Chiropractic & Nutritional Care Can Help Relieve Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpel Tunnel Syndrome is when someone experiences numbness or tingling in their hand as a result of pressure on their median nerve caused by swelling of their carpal tunnel in their wrist. This nerve runs the length of your arm and controls the movement of your thumb and the movement of all your fingers except your pinky.
The carpal tunnel is narrowed as a result, usually from swelling brought on by repetitive movements like typing or any motions of the wrists that you do over and over. If you have carpal tunnel syndrome and don’t get it treated, its symptoms can last a long time, get worse, and can even go away and return.
Chiropractic care can help by performing “micro-adjustments” from the elbow down into the wrist and into the hands. Mobilization of your joints and muscles provides more movement, more muscle relaxation, and restores space for the nerves to function normally. Also, we can perform cold laser therapy that uses infrared light to stimulate and promote healing in your body’s cells to help you recover more quickly.
We commonly treat carpal tunnel syndrome in our clinic.
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition where tension on the nerve that goes through your forearm and through the wrist area causes numbness, tingling, and pain into your fingers. We see this a lot in people who are working eight hours a day on a computer and don’t have a lot of support on their wrists while they’re typing away all day long or doing a lot of repetitive movements with their hands.
With carpal tunnel syndrome, we always work with modifications on your ergonomics or how you’re sitting at work or whatever is aggravating it, we try to modify those activities so we don’t continually rip off that band-aid every time I’m trying to heal that area. So if there’s some homework to do at home to get that healing longer-lasting and once we correct that, people generally see improvement in like three to six weeks generally, if not fully resolved. So if you have carpal tunnel syndrome, give our office a call I’d love to work with you and start your journey to health today.
Chiropractic Care
Muscle tension in joints can lead to bones being out of alignment and possibly reduce the signal of the nerve passing through that bone. If they are not able to send a good signal to the muscles they lead to, this can lead to issues like numbness or tingling in those muscles.
Chiropractic care can help carpal tunnel by creating mobilization from the elbow down into the wrist and into the hands. Mobilization of your joints and muscles provides more movement, more muscle relaxation, and opens up space for the nerves to function normally. We generally use a tool called an activator, which performs micro-adjustments to help get movement in the area, take stress off of the nerve, and relieve the symptoms from your fingers.
We also perform cold laser therapy, which uses red-light and infrared light to help reduce pain and inflammation. Cold laser therapy is great for carpal tunnel syndrome and we use it quite often. It’s a painless and sensation-less therapy that uses frequencies of light to penetrate the skin and stimulate healing functions in the cells of your body.
Nutritional Care
When you suffer from carpal tunnel, you have pain and inflammation. While chiropractic care helps with mobilization and realigning the joints and muscles, we may recommend supplements to help the muscles relax and speed up the healing process.
Orthomega 820: High-quality omega-3 supplements that support joint health
Formula 303: A natural muscle relaxant
Turmero Active: A turmeric based supplement to reduce pain and inflammation (take in place of Ibuprofen)
B6 Plus: Vitamin B6 is essential to proper nerve function and magnesium and potassium are important electrolyte minerals involved in nerve and muscle function.
